Comments
Comments: We found the old, abandoned Gleason Trail, or what's left of it. Not much left in the hardwoods. Easier to follow the old footbed thru the conifers, but the forest is taking it back. Downed trees obscured the corridor, young spruce sprouted up, and a carpet of Canada mayflowers has filled in across the former trail. We skipped the Sandwich summit.

Asters and turtlehead in bloom on the wet seeps across upper Bennett St.

BW to Young: took a straight line from the trail jct staying below the ridge, barred owls calling. Scrambled up some steep mossy rockfalls. Signed the jar. Came down the red paint to the boundary marker then took a straight line back to the TH, hitting some logged areas. One pile of bear poop (looks like s/he was finding some berries).
