Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Bridged across Saco River at the beginning. The Saco was so low Hank could only wade, not swim. And he’s a 38lb pup
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Nice, newish signage. One Northbound AT hiker mentioned the lack of blazes on cliffy rocks that you ascend. Not that it’s problematic, as when you take a look around it is pretty obvious you need to ascend.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Bring all your water. It’s really dry out there. Between me and Hank i know wish i had 3 liters. I had 2 and conserved. Also, this is a cliff trail and has some scrambles so is probably not the best trail for an inexperienced dog or one who has to be leashed while ascending of descending the cliffy parts.
Bugs
Bugs: A few at the beginning but just noticeable. Some large flies and wasps congregating on Jackson

Comments
Comments: This is a great way to hit Webster and Jackson as it’s much less traveled. Views from the cliffs were many and spectacular starting about 2 miles in. There were some cliffy, short scrambles that I wouldn’t want to do when wet. Since these areas are exposed to the sun they were dry Saturday even with the rain a few days earlier.

We met 2 hikers going up, one hiking who went to Webster out and back. Another lounging on one of the expansive open ledges. There were a fair amount of people on the summits. It was nice to run into Sean and Buddy. Dennis, in the same group, introduced my friend Jen to the grey jays—-super happy! Thanks Dennis! Met a handful of nice AT folks on their way to Mizpah as we were descending.
