 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Large parking area with a couple of dirt overflow areas as well. Mostly full when I arrived at 2 PM, but enough people had left already that I could find a spot in the main lot. |

 | Surface Conditions: |
Dry Trail |

 | Recommended Equipment: |

|
 | Water Crossing Notes: |
Just the one at the beginning, which was easy. |
|
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Trail was in good shape - no blowdowns, and lots of new signs pointing out the twists and turns of the trail (those signs weren't there in 2018 when I last did this hike). Several places where possible side paths were blocked off with branches or brush. Many new blazes evident, particularly on the steep climb up Welch. |
|
 | Dog-Related Notes: |
Saw several, and they all seemed to be doing fine. Practically no water on the loop though. |
|
 | Bugs: |
Very few. |

 | Comments: |
As always, this is a great loop - views were excellent, rocks were dry, and trail was well-maintained.
We tried to find the Dickey View Spur that's mentioned on the Redlining Spreadsheet. I think we found roughly where it diverges from the main trail, but just before that point, a side trail had been conspicuously blocked off by branches. The path I found looked more like a herd path than a trail - it was very narrow, clearly used very little, and had lots of sharp branches sticking out into it. It also didn't have any cairns as markings, which are mentioned by the WMG. I'm almost wondering whether this spur trail has either been abandoned or purposefully closed. If anyone has more information about this, I'd be very interested to hear it. |
