Comments: A marvelous day in the forest was had. There is absolutely no whiny on Mt. Pliny I was told, and I did not find any need to! Today's bushwhacking wisdom was why bushwhack something to then bushwhack something else, when we can just take a compass bearing and bushwhack uphill instead. We followed the abandoned trail for about a half a mile before it's use was more of a chore then a help. So we took a bearing at shot off into the woods, which were great for the vast entire circumavigation of the two peaks. We took a bearing for Pliny Minor (West Peak). It's summit is not recognized, but it is truly the more unique summits I have been on. Go find out why. We then went over to Pliny proper, the last entry was from February 2 of this year. There was water in the object so the bag was replaced just in case as well as a pencil left. We opted for a northerly cross contour around Pliny West to avoid the unique summit feature, but we found sometimes dense hobblebush. Could move around in it while doing the breast stroke, but all that was visible where our hats for a bit. There is an absolute maze of moose and skidder roads on this mountain, none really where all that helpful in the long run. On the way out, we found a mowed road which we followed for about two or three furlongs. It led into a large horse hack field, with jumps and a mowed conditioning track. Thankfully no horses out today to possibly spook. We did meet the owner on the road and said they have up to twenty horses in training at any given time, I would avoid this route in the future and just stick to the woods, they are more than amicable to move around in, and you don't get a neighbor upset or someone hurt by spooking a horse and getting dropped.
