Parked at a grassy two track with pullout shortly before Jordan Hill Road starts to wind East then south; we actually could have driven all the way to the trailer and grassy two track which was maybe .1-.2 miles further. Road was in great shape with a few shallow puddles. |

We continued up Jordan Hill Road on foot to a second height of land where there is a nice mowed lawn, a field of wild flowers and a trailer. Here, we turned left onto a grassy two track, soon coming to a gate with a sign welcoming us to Weona Mountain. We passed around the gate and continued up the road to a mowed area, giant fire pit and a set of buildings, one of which is called the Jordan Hilton. We continued to the right of the buildings heading into the open woods and bushwhacked moderately to steeply to the flat summit. We encountered some pencil pines but nothing horrible. Once on the flat summit we headed towards the highpoint through lots of ferns. Wandering around, we located the opening with partial views towards Vermont. Here, we found a shirt hanging on a stick about 3’ above the ground. Looking up, we then saw the string that was holding the jar which was hanging on the other side of the tree. Aha! We signed in then headed back down getting a little off our path up which proved to be a bit steeper but by angling towards the spot we knew we’d find the buildings, we managed to mitigate the slope slightly. Once back at the Jordan Hilton, we headed down the roads to our car. Nice one! |
