| Water Crossing Notes: |
Per the guidebook which states a few crossings are tougher than most, we brought water shoes. Even in a drought, we where happy we had them. |

| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
The RMC does a fantastic job on all their trails. Recent work has been done. My only comments are the STOP! YOU ARE GOING TO DIE! Sign at the top of IRP needs to be replaced as its totally bleached out, the sign at Perched Path/IRP for Bowman could be moved to a different tree as Bowman points to the wrong trail, and the sign at the top of IRP at Randolph states Bowman is 2.9, then at the Perch states its 3.5. |

A MARVELOUS day in and above the forest was had. We remarked that our trio has gridded out Jefferson, but this route was a first ascent this way for all of us. We ascended via Castle Ravine which was an absolute gem and a really fun trail. Todays heat and humidity was kept at bay by the river, but as soon as you got away from it, my glasses would fog up. Incredible views of the Castellated Ridge above us (which means battlements, which is absolutely the coolest descripion of a trail - and quite befitting). The headwall / tallus field to Edmunds Col was really fun and we collectively agreed far harder than more than a few T25 trails, but still a really fine elective. We then summited Jefferson with some redlining involved. Apparently AllTrails must have been updated to tell people to do their Presi Traverses South to North, because it seemed like everyone we talked to was doing this route (WHY!? Its 500ft less gain on paper but you have the four big boys at the end.... WHY!) Anyways, it was a lovely discovery, that at the top out of Castle Ravine just before the Cornice Junction, is a natural spring. I figured I might not hike tomorrow so I'd chance the beaver fever, especially because there was a small chance of hiker pee. It's a whopping flat .1 from Edmunds. Boy did that hit the spot! Some redlining was had up around Thomas. On the way down we took IRP to finish up that squiggle for me. We had noted a really nice waterfall/plunge pool about 100ft up from IRP/CRT junction on the way in. We went swimming on the way out, and boy was it COLD and invigorating. I think I hit a new octave! We hit a nice downpour on the way out for about 10 minutes. Finished the day at the very befittingly named - Big Day brewery. Over eight new to me miles to a an old friend. Spectacular. |
