Hiking Trail Conditions Report
Peaks
Peaks Cannon Mountain, NH
Trails
Trails: Lonesome Lake Trail, Kinsman Ridge Trail, Hi-Cannon Trail, Dodge Cutoff
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Thursday, August 4, 2022
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Parking at 13:00 was tight. Maybe 2-3 open spots after I arrived.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: All via wooden bridges that were in good repair. If you want to call bog bridges "water crossings", then yes, there are many that are rotting and in need of replacement. But today, it was too hot and dry to matter.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Overall the trail is in good shape. Some blow-downs, but none in a position to require much in the way of gymnastics to go over or under.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Several happy pups, out enjoying the day.
Bugs
Bugs: Yes. Flying, annoying ones, for sure. There were a couple dragonflies and some butterflies on the summit that were out getting dinner, but they were grossly outnumbered. For them, it was a target-rich environment. For the humans, it was annoying.

Comments
Comments: A couple segments of trail to wrap up Cannon Mountain for my redlining. (Why take Dodge Cutoff when you can just stick to Hi-Cannon?) Those trails are every bit as steep as I remembered. Yikes! The views from the ledges are just as breathtaking. And I got to see a couple very beautiful butterflies, which was a huge plus on a day where the views to other mountains were crushed by haze.

Photos and a more detailed report are on my blog, as always.
