 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
1. Randolph Community Forest Parking lot for the first two mentioned. 2. Side of Randolph Road near the EZ Way start. The forest parking has lots of space and a sign on the lower lot encouraging folks to park closely as to leave room for others. That particular area has many tall weeds obscuring potential spaces. Some clearing could help. Thanks for a good parking area (have used it in the winter as well, thanks for the plowing) - informative kiosk and good signage. |

 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
I saw many bog bridges on EZ Way that need replacement, and then I saw the supplies, beautiful brand new ones, etc on the Diagonal. Wonderful work by the RMC. Thanks. |

 | Dog-Related Notes: |
Keep in mind the trails between Randolph Hill Road and Durand Road border private property. Bring water for your dog as well. If you do visit the small garden on Will's Way where the prayer flags are, I would be careful no leg lifting gets done in that little area. |

On a personal note, I have officially diagnosed as having a hernia and will probably be having surgery in the near (I hope!) future. Sharing these details so that folks who have to take it easy for a while can get a good idea of how these went for me. Of course, always ask your health care provider first.
I chose these because both the elevation gain and foot bed were gentle. First we went to the Community Forest. Started with the Carlton Notch Trail, went down the Community Forest Road for a bit. Trail was a lovely, flat woodland walk. The Road reminded me of a snowmobile trail, no need to trim all the grass back. Plenty of blueberries and raspberries.
Then we drove to Randolph Road and parked by EZ Way. Took EZ Way, left on Diagonal. Elevation loss and gain was comparable to me street in Lawrence. We noticed Wood Path intersecting it and left Wood Path for the way back. Took Diagonal to Pasture Path and started back to make the loop back to the car. Noticed a new trail called Will's Way, which we took and then returned. Further up, we went down Wood Path to Diagonal and came back up to Pasture Path and headed back to the car.
Most of these paths are pretty walks through the forest, interspersed by a soggy area and some open areas (probably why the call it Pasture Path). The Diagonal would probably be extremely muddy during rainy periods or the spring melt. The biggest surprise was Will's Way. You step over the stone wall and take a 5 minute walk up to a small garden on the side of Randolph Road. There are many prayer flags, new and old, here. Nice statuary, and some small boulders to sit on. You get a nice view of the northern Presidentials from the edge of this area. A lot of heart has been put into this little area. I think Will's Way is very new; I could find it neither on the map nor the WMG. I will check the RMC website. Thank you for such a sacred spot.
