Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Old Cherry Mountian Road is in great shape. We tried to park at at the throat of camp site 7, and the folks there told us there dogs would bite us if we continued, and offered zero help in a spot to park, citing they couldn't possibly get their trailer out of the site. Told us to park somewhere else. Amazing. We parked between camp site 5 & 6, there was a pulloff that a higher clearance vehicle could fully get off the road.

Comments
Comments: A MAGNIFICENT day in the forest was had. After our little scuffle with less then amicable campers (super rude out of staters - go figure!) everything else about this day was awesome. Nordic_Gal and I prefer to do everything the absolutely hardest way possible, so today's route fit the bill. We ascended from Old Cherry Mountain Road, from the south west ridge crest, hitting every bump just because they where there. We encountered good wood through most of the trip, only finding a handfull of blowdown sections that required care and effort. We did encounter on and off skid roads, but as most whackers can attest, its all but certain they NEVER go the direction you are. Womp Womp! I guess she is desensitizing me slowly. As she always says (sorry Z/J/B if she stole this from you) "If you're moving, you're winning!" I always learn so much from her and today was nothing short of a master class of finding line and finding good wood. Amazing. We did have lovely restricted views of the entire White Mountain range, and through some Cirque-De-Soliel balance on a blowdown, a quick glimpse of Washington could be found on West Peak. We did not bother looking for the view spot others have mentioned. Five feet of snow in winter, this would have some commanding views I am sure. We then went over to the NHHH peak - and the most direct route looks great on paper, but not always in reality. We found an object at the high point, which is leaning at a 45 degree angle on another tree. It itself is in good condition but will need the parts to move it over to another live 6" tree about 10ft away. Also, with these object, you do not need to be Lou Ferrigno and over tighten them. It likely will disappear in winter in its current state. Nothing of note on the way out, except we ended up coming out at camp site six. She then took me over to lower falls, of which I had never been, and we had an absolutely lovely time swimming. Crowded, but not too bad. Lots of families. I echoed the kids, whom their grandfather told them it 'had been over four hours it was time to get out' -- "FIVE MORE MINUTES!?!?" The slow drip for New Hampshire Hundred Highest continues... :)
