All easily crossed. Some running water heading down the Sphinx Trail in spots. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Six Husband’s between Edmond’s Col Cutoff and Gulfside could really use brushing. Plenty of stepovers and unders throughout this hike, but the section of Great Gulf Trail between Sphinx and Six Husbands has a few significant blowdowns and misdirections due to wayward hikers. That section is in rough shape. |

| Dog-Related Notes: |
None |

| Bugs: |
Nothing until I hit the Sphinx Trail. Perhaps some of it was last night’s rain, but the black flies were biting hard in several of the wetter sections. Mosquitos were out later in the day as I got within 3 miles of the Rt 16 parking lot. Saw 1 deer fly in that area as well. All were hungry. I just kept moving, never did apply any spray, although I did consider it a few times. |

| Comments: |
Thought the low water table and forecast of higher summit clouds was a perfect one for this loop hike and it worked out well. Six Husband’s water crossing was easy, as were all others throughout this loop, and there were plenty. Views from the various outlooks were tremendous, even the Washington Summit peeked out from the clouds a few times while I was in the Alpine Zone. |
