Comments
Comments: A FINE day in the forest was had. Clough was good stuff, rough but not super tough, despite how much we had to huff and puff. We went past Mud Pond to the HOL in Tunnel Brook Notch. From here we assessed two slides, one had several headwalls, the other was more slabby. We then utilized a beaver dam to get across one of the ponds that make up a gorgeous chain of them in the notch. We looked like Nik Wallenda balancing over the grand canyon to get across. Good stuff. We took a compass bearing and entered the woods. Generally good going. We stopped over at the headwall slide and made the correct choice as we popped out on it at one of several diving board drop offs. We continued with our original plan and ended up hitting the slabbier slide that goes much higher up the mountain. There was a quick rock climbing lesson from nordic_gal which I was very thankful to recieve. Once at the trigger point of the slide, it got swimmingly thick. I didn't know if I was touching the ground for a little while. Thankfully after this the woods got better and I could be bipedal once again instead of swimming. We where rewarded in our efforts with some rare views of Moosilauke, the Kinsmans, and Franconia Ridge. We found something, however it is not at the true high point, which is close by. On the way out we headed down the south east ridge line and where pleased to find Mr. & Mrs. Moose had greatly made our efforts far more pleasant. Ran into two redliners upon our return to Tunnel Brook. A fine day!
