 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Drove about 13 miles down Indian Stream Road, took a right onto East Branch Road, drove about 2.4 miles to an unnamed gravel road on the right, drove up this road to a logging clearing, about. 8 miles. This was where there is a dotted line showing a forked logging road to the right on Gaia. Note, East Branch does not continue up and around the peak as shown on Gaia; that road does not seem to exist. |

Followed the over grown skidder road until it turns away from the peak. Took a left onto another overgrown road not shown on the map. Continued to follow overgrown roads, turning onto those that would bring us towards the peak. Note, these roads were very overgrown, mostly thick grass often waist high, some hobblebush, raspberries and other unknown to me bushes. Tried to find moose paths to minimize the effort needed to push through. Eventually came to woods which were pretty open. Pretty steep climb to the jar, located on a high bump. Nice moose skull perched at the base of the tree. Signed in and headed back down, staying in the woods as long as possible. Got a little thick so eventually moved over to the grassy ‘roads’. Pretty much followed our path down which now had a fairly good ‘hiker’ path though the grass from our trip up. Took us a lot longer than we had figured: 87 degrees, lots of sun and pushing through the tall grass made for some tough going! The woods made for a cool, shady relief! |
