Comments
Comments: Far fewer folks out yesterday than expected. Once we headed down Smarts Brook trail we saw no one until down near the bike trials. Worth the extra work to do a car spot to include this trail in hike

For first timers, the lack of blazes in the wilderness area requires a bit of a learning curve. the trailbed is pretty obvious. The summit of Sandwich is rabbits warren of false paths and bootleg campsites. Trail junction signage can be confusing and a worn turn could end up with long road walk. Take care heading up to the summit and have a good map the area.

Hard to beat Smarts Brook trail for a well graded trail and lots of interesting terrain. for the first timer the huge boulders are a treat. We saw a patch of lady slippers in full bloom including a white slipper.
