Today was day 2 of our 3 day hiking weekend. I'm surprised we didn't see any kids other than us today. This is such a great hike for the younger crowd! There were tons of kids on Willard yesterday (which also has ledges, so that doesn't seem like an explanation for the difference), but none on Boulder Loop today. All 3 of mine (9, 8, and 3) loved it. Admittedly, the 3 year old got tuckered out toward the end, so got a ride for the last while (forget how long). Even if you don't make it to the ledges with the great views (we watched some circling hawks today), there are the glacier fields for climbing over and under and all around. Even waking their imaginations (there were goblin castles). Also, it's a well-maintained trail. You can see how many blowdowns have been dealt with over time, there are nice rock steps in spots on the trail for improved footing and the blazes are not at all sparse. |
