Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: All were bridged, Avalanche Brook Running fast, glad we didn't have to wade it at the Boulder Path
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trails are blazed and there are plenty of trail signs BUT you can't read them because when they are wet by the rain because they turn black and the letters are impossible to see unless you are standing a foot away from the sign. Stupid stupid bad invisible guvmint signs. Get the DOC to make some real signs. Otherwise trails are clear and in good shape.

Comments
Comments: It was pouring rain, hard wet rain when we started at 10 am. I used an umbrella and was glad I did. This was a good day to test our rain gear. My arms of my jacket wetted out pretty quickly, umbrella kept my head and torso nice and dry. Julie's coat hung in there but her feet were soaked pretty quickly. Everything was so pretty and green and we saw some Lady's slippers. We visited the big Pine trees, they are always impressive. We hiked briskly up the Livermore Road/Trail and a person with a shovel could prevent a lot of future washout damage, the water can't get into the ditches! The water is running down the road. We dug out a few places with our hiking poles. Its 4.6 miles to the Old Skidder and we had a short break here and amazingly enough the rain let up! I put my umbrella away! Trails are clear and in good shape. The hiking was quite pleasant. No views just lots of clouds. Visiting the Flume was the highlight of the day, water was Loud and flowing strong, so exciting to see. From the Scaur we could see the slopes of the ski area but not much more than that. Going by the Kettles it was dark but still cool. On way out we checked out the Boulder in the brook at the beginning of the Boulder Path, glad we didn't have to cross it today. A good 9 mile adventure today in a little over 3 hours. Felt great to put dry clothes on at the car!
