After a 37 mile weekend, I rolled up 302 like a rocket sled on rails, and laid a strip for the Zealand trailhead. I hooked a left on to Ethan Pond Trailhead and then a right onto Zeacliff Trail. Zeacliff is eroded in spots and leaf litter galore,but it's a great trail otherwise. Two spots in rapid succession up large boulders/erratics/cliff/call it what you will will make a short hiker pause, but both are finely navigable with great crevices and handholds.
Took a walk out to Zeacliff (the overlook) saw some people and mercy sakes good buddy, I had to back on outta here. Walked over bog bridges on the way to the hut that were recently elevated, stopped at said hut and then shot the line and went for A-Z. Mixed bag of dry and mud, bridges were all above water. Was able to get some running in and made it to the summit of Tom in good time. Contemplated Field, but did not want to keep my impromptu car spot waiting too long. First time down Avalon in non-snow conditions in a few years and well, it's a typical popular trail. Thank you maintainers for doing what you do.
