 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
A few of the bog bridges at Harrington Pond were walkable, but also decently submerged. Recent maintenance further south on the KRT and Reel Brook trail looks great. Mt. Kinsman Trail also in great shape. |

 | Bugs: |
Minimal - wind kept them mostly at bay. Would've been a different story had it been calm. |

 | Comments: |
Went up the Mt. Kinsman Trail, then across the ridge and down and out via Reel Brook Trail, where I'd stashed a bike at the trailhead. Pretty ideal weather - mostly cloudy but not socked in, with temps in the 50's up on the ridge and more than enough wind to keep the bugs at bay. First time going off the backside of South Peak - between the steep, rocky initial descent and the waterfalls further down, the stretch of AT between the summit and the Eliza Brook shelter is as rugged as it is beautiful. If you can spot a car instead of a bike, thereby negating the 400-foot elevation difference between the 2 trailheads, I'd recommend doing this loop in the opposite direction. (Some clearance required to get to the Reel Brook TH) |
