Plenty of parking for a holiday Monday! Plus we got a great spot right in the shade close to trailhead. |

No problem, great bridges! |
|
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Trail in great condition except for a few big blow downs we had to cross over. We met the lovely Ranger Kaitlin on our way down near the bottom. She surely has them located on her radar. |

 | Dog-Related Notes: |
Some great doggies on the trail and some nice humans too! |
|
 | Bugs: |
Yes, plenty! Black flies were biting and I’ve come home bloodied but I don’t care because it was a perfect day to do this hike. |

Traffic was light from Southern NH so we were able to start this hike at 8:04. It was perfect heading up with a slight breeze on and off throughout the first two plus miles or so on nice wide trail until you hit the stairs. Haha then it seemed to get warmer the higher you were on the mountain. The rocks get bigger as you approach the summit but it’s oh so beautiful and doable if you follow the trail. The sun was out most of the day, the views were fantastic, and the wildflowers are in bloom including a Lady Slipper Patch. This is not an easy hike and the exposure on the last mile is amazing. This mountain has turned me away more than once, but it was a real joy to summit today and there was maybe 10 people on the summit. We took a lucky guess and mostly had the trail to ourselves all day! This is my new favorable mountain and I can’t wait to do some of the other trails on this mountain again this year. Perfect!! |
