Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Lots of water on Ammo. Lots on Alpine Garden (which dries up pretty significantly in summer). Hank enjoyed a small snow field on Crossover and a 50 yard (est?) snow field between Tuckerman Junction and Alpine Garden Trail. We met maybe 5 friendly dogs on the trails. Many thanks to everyone who gave Hank pats. He loves the social hikes.
Bugs
Bugs: Amazingly, only a few at the top of Huntington Ravine where we were in a breezeless spot for lunch. And the black flies were pesky in the parking lot early evening
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Packed out 4 two liter plastIc bottles several yards down towards Huntington Ravine on Alpine Garden Trail. They were well off trail, into the alpine tundra. Can’t figure out how they got there except maybe slid down from skiers in the winter?

Comments
Comments: What a gorgeous day! Delighted to get a spot at Ammo. Lots of hikers starting out but everyone disperses quickly. Coolish weather and a breeze kept black flies away. Crew at the hut ramping up for the season. Bathrooms and outside water spigot available. Opening is June 2. We went of to Alpine Garden to investigate the blooms. They will probably be at peak in 1-2 weeks.
I thought it was likely a bit too early but the forecast was perfect for this hike. I love the expansive views on Crossover and Alpine Garden. And i rarely see anyone on Crossover.
Oh! We also saw skiers on the last, small snowfields on Tuckerman and from the auto road very close to the intersection of Nelson Craig and Huntington Ravine. It sounded like they were having a good time.
