Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Jefferson Notch Road open from Base Road to Caps Ridge. Saw other vehicles continuing north from there so assuming entire road is open. Still heavy equipment and materials along road however.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Clay Brook crossing on Boundary Line Tr. was rock hopped (poles could help)
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: One blowdown 1/2 way out on Boundary Line Tr.. Rest of this loop in excellent condition.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Long stretches with little water. Felt very sorry for a 130 lb. black dog struggling coming down the Jewell. Caps could be challenging for some dogs.
Bugs
Bugs: None biting but a few around on this warmer day.

Comments
Comments: Changed parking plans when we found Jefferson Notch Road was open. Only wet sections were first short section of Caps Ridge, few spots near Sphinx Col and northern part of Boundary Line. Jewell Connector Tr. from Jewell to Cog parking still marked closed (dissapointing surprise for some not knowing this doing Ammo-Washington-Jewell Loop). We rerouted one family who had missed Jewell-Gulfside jct. and in hindsight wish we had talked more to another couple who had probably done same. Thought maybe issue with sign but found no issues at arrival. Hope all came out unharmed.
