Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The brooks on both trails were no problem today.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Both trails have lots of erosion. :( Blazes could be refreshed. Several blowdowns on Brook Trail above the Bee Line junction, but all of them are easy stepovers. I recall only one significant blowdown on Liberty Trail.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Depends on the dog. I saw a couple with an older dog that needed boosts up the summit scrambles.
Bugs
Bugs: Mosquitoes were out during the descent, but there was enough wind today to prevent the bugs from being maddening. They had no chance with the wind on the summit.

Comments
Comments: What a glorious day on Chocorua! Bright sun, cool temps, a stiff breeze, and billion dollar views.

Brook Trail was mainly dry but there was some wet ledge on the scrambles that required care and mindful stepping. Mud was minor. Liberty Trail was fairly wet and mucky below the cabin for quite a way down, with several areas of running water. Out in open areas, ledges were thankfully dry and grippy. Winds were gusty on the summit but fortunately there are places on the south side for cover.

I chatted with a few folks here and there, but overall it was a quiet day on the mountain given the stunning weather.
