This is an amalgamated post, combining 5/15 with today, 5/17. This post is written primarily to inform the reader than Kinsman Ridge Trail, while very wet and muddy (in spots) is mostly snow free - all snow is located north of Eliza Brook shelter and south of North Kinsman with ZERO on the south side of South Kinsman. Snow/monorail is stable and there is not much of it. Gordon Pond and Reel Brook were a wee bit different than when I was on them earlier this month, with the rain "and all". The cascade on Reel Brook was passable about 15m up from the actual crossing. A delightful amount of mud - not too much, not too little. Be sure to check out the flume spur on Mt Kinsman Trail. Didn't bother with Bald Peak, having been there before. |
