Comments
Comments: Today I hiked a loop for the Hiking the White Mtn Guide project. I started at Brickett Place and hiked up Bickford Brook Trail, and then did a loop going up Bickford Ledges and down Bickford Brook. Then I hiked up Blueberry Ridge Trail (I skipped the “view loop” because I have done it previously and it was a foggy morning so there would be no views!!). When I arrived at Red Rock Trail I took it up to the summit of Speckled and then down to the junction with Great Brook Trail and then headed back. I then headed down Bickford Brook Trail and to the car. I saw no people, no dogs, three spruce grouse and lots of moose sign (no moose!!)
Everything was really wet as we had really good (and much needed) rain yesterday. That made my loop choice easy as I chose the safest route - up the slides and up Blueberry Ridge! I would recommend this. All trails were easy to follow even without markings, noting that Red Rock Trail east of Speckled summit definitely sees more moose traffic than people traffic! There are a few spots that appear consistently muddy, in this section, and have partially submerged and not super stable logs - I definitely got my feet wet up there but I didn’t care because it’s super warm today!!
Very enjoyable hike - would highly recommend!!!
