Comments
Comments: First hot hiking day of 2022, already missing cooler temps for sure. Trail was mostly dry to Bald peak junction. Continued to be dry until about 0.5 mile up from there. Some mud and then patchy ice till the KRT junction. I put on the rock spikes here and it made the ridge trail to north much easier. Trail went dry again partway to South then monorail and some snow appeared when ascending to South peak. I saw a few deep postholes off to the side of the monorail. I don’t think the snow and ice will last much longer if we keep with warm days and the rain that’s predicted to come through. I was glad to have my spikes though on this trip. I think they will stay in the pack for another week or two. Trilliums are blooming down on the lower sections and I saw my first snake.
