Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: There are two insignificant blowdowns on Rocky Mount and a couple on the Isolation whack.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Lauky had no problems at all. The only possible problem would be the length of the hike. If the dog is in good shape and can handle winter hiking there should be no problems.

Comments
Comments: Two beautiful 'whacks' have been broken out by Ed Hawkins and group. The first is the Engine Hill Whack which starts from the Hight of the Land and stays at roughly 3300'. It passes through very open woods. It is such a good track I doubt that I will ever again follow the trail. It joins the river just below the third crossing. It does not cross there but does a whack on the east side then crosses at the last crossing. The second whack off the isolation trail is relatively short but save perhaps a mile of hiking. The two whacks together saved about 3 miles round trip. If there is not too big a dump of snow this trail should remain a good one. Snowshoes were not needed for the hike.
