Comments
Comments: After a stopover at Beaver Brook campsite i descended over a mix of monorail, tacky ice and bare rock. Micros were fine with caution. there were a couple of other spots where light crampons wouldve been useful possibly. KRT started out with dry ground with off and on remaining snow. shorty above Gordon Pond Trail intersection began an extremely tough hike with pick your posthole to walk in or make your own often times knee deep or occasionally hip deep. snowshoes wouldnt have been useful due to current trail conditions. the path to Mt Wolf while still postholed was a welcome reprieve albeit temporary. Signed the log and canister(jar) is intact. this type 2 fun continued until about 1 mile before Eliza Brook Campsite. Campsite looked in great order. Crossed over and the fun continued until the scrambles. Despite tough conditions this was an incredible hike to view several cascades and water features. From S Kinsman to the Kinsman Campsite was a mix of bare rock, and softening but still supportive monorail. It was very nice chatting with the hiker that was crossing the Eliza Brook. Best of luck on your SoBo thru hike!
