Comments
Comments: The trail conditions for the Cabot Loop are a mixed bag of easy dry walking for the first 3.5 miles on Bunnell Notch Trail and the beginning of Kilkenny Ridge Trail. At approx 3.5-3.8 miles into the hike micro-spikes are useful while walking a solid monorail up to the Cabot Cabin. From the cabin to the summit was starting to get soft and there was much evidence of post-holing. The Unknown Pond Trail was full of post holes most of the entire way with snow depths in many places clearly at 2-4’. I personally opted for snowshoes and would recommend this. The Unknown Pond trail was easily trekked with bare boots but there are sections of deep mud and 2-3 stream crossings
