Comments
Comments: Day 186, Peak 178. 2nd hike and 3rd peak of the day after the Hopes. Beautiful day to be outside though rather windy especially in the morning.

From the parking area at the end of Sawyer River Rd, I followed Sawyer River Trail along the road. Where Sawyer River Trail turns off the main road, I continued along it for another 1/2mi. Here, on Gaia it shows another road diverging left here and heading generally south. The road was overgrown but not too hard to see. I followed it for about 0.1mi before it losing it and starting my bushwhack up to Greens Cliff. I followed a SE bearing the whole way to the peak. Woods were open and grades were gradual for a ways and I was able to follow old skidder roads. Eventually the Skidder roads faded and the grade become more moderate. Around 2400ft or so the woods transitioned and I made by way through thick sticks. Not horribly thick but not pleasant either. The grade also became steep and at this point you could say that I was following a N/NW ridge of the peak. I came to the summit ridge very close to the actual peak and signed in to the orange canister. I then made my way to the SW summit not far off where there’s a jar and a slightly more open view. It seems mostly agreed upon now that the first summit I was on is the true highpoint but “back in the day” just a few years ago it seemed prudent to go to both. I returned roughly the same way.

To my surprise and liking, there was virtually no snow which is really saying something considering I was at nearly 3000ft and along north-facing slopes. A few small, insignificant patches in one shady area that I think was around 2700ft. The hike was about 4.5mi with 1300ft of gain, taking me 3hrs to complete. 179 more days and 187 more peaks to go…
