Started at the Basin lot and headed along the bike path to pick up liberty spring trail. A little wet but no real mud. Ice started around 2500 feet and spikes went on, stayed on until the open ridge where it's a couple of snowy spots but mostly dry. Everything was pretty stable up to Franconia ridge trail; once I hit that junction it was snowy with a some minor postholing. Stiff enough that snowshoes weren't necessary, mine were along for the ride today.

It was extremely windy on the ridge, barebooted up to Lafayette and most of the way down to the hut. Spikes went on for the next 2/3 of the way down OBP, but parts of that were completely snow free and just wet rock. A lot of off and on. Rest of the way down was uneventful, walked the bike path back to the basin from lafayette place. Never really got any mashed potatoes the whole time, even though temps got pretty high.

Things are gonna get a lot less stable in a week or so. It was pretty good today but given the warm weather it wont be like this for long!
