Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: This is a little tricky. Drive up Cider Mill Rd from the south. At the jct with Dodge Rd as seen on Gaia, go right to stay on Cider Mill Rd. You’ll immediately see a sign saying that the area is under 24hr video surveillance or something like that though. No private property or private road signs but I still didn’t feel great about driving past that sign so I stopped and got ready to hike from here and was going to approach the peak from the south. But as I was doing so, the owners of the farm on this northern portion of Cider Mill Rd drove by so I asked about access. It sounds like the road is still a public road so they can’t tell you not to drive through it but realize that you’re basically driving “through” their property. They were friendly enough and just asked that I drive very slowly so I didn’t hit one of their livestock that is often in the road. Shortly beyond their house the road becomes much rougher (See-It-All Road on Gaia) and there’s a place for several cars to park here on the right. Also, they said they have some large dogs that would run at me though they were friendly. Never saw or heard the dogs but just something to be aware of.

Comments
Comments: Day 180, Peak 170. 2nd hike of the day after Mudgets Pond Peak, Pollard Hill, and Thompson Hill.

From where I parked, I walked a couple dozen yard down See-It-All Rd, then turned left into the woods. That said, if I’d have continued just a few dozen yards further, I would’ve seen a road on my left that I could’ve taken to toward the peak. I whacked NW through semi-thick hardwoods soon attaining a southern ridge which I followed. I also think I followed a road I found for awhile in here. I believe the road stopped or I hopped off of it at a flat area around 1750ft. I then continued along some very old/overgrown Skidder roads and bushwhacking NW to the highpoint. I signed in and headed down roughly the same way but following the road all the way back down to See-It-All Rd this time. There’s a single private property sign next to the road. Looks very old. As others have noted, it seems as if it’s for the woods behind the road, not the road itself. I wasn’t too concerned since the likely landowners knew I was there.

The hike was about 1.75mi with 500ft of gain. I took me 1.25hrs at a leisurely pace. 185 more days and 195 more peaks to go…
