Comments
Comments: The goal today was Ethan Pond and possibly beyond. Fat chance! Ethan Pond Trail is snow and ice free until the junction with Kedron Flume Trail. Then, intermittent snow/ice until junction with Willey Range Trail. After that, mostly snow/ice covered. Almost 2 feet deep in spots, rotting and undermined snow with tons of postholes. I did not bring snowshoes (just spikes) and after breaking thru multiple times, I turned around about half way to the shelter. Not really sure snowshoes would have helped with all the protruding rocks, etc. Consolation prize was Ripley Falls where the falls were just breathtaking with the high volume.
