| Water Crossing Notes: |
Both crossings of the river were doable but I went further up the river on the first crossing to find an area with some more rocks for my shorter legs. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Some step overs on Rattle River, moved some loose branches off the trail.
Kenduskeag could use some brushing and blazing. |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Saw some prints. The summit area has a natural water bowl built into one of the rocks just beyond the summit cairn. |
|
| Bugs: |
They are emerging, saw some butterflies sunning at the Rattle River Shelter. |

| Comments: |
I started out today planning to turn around if the river was not passable. For the first crossing, I went further up to find an area that felt less risky.
Used spikes intermittently, then they stayed on until I put the on the snowshoes. Snowshoes kept me from post holing, had televators for steeper snowy sections, and provided extra traction in some icy areas.
I followed some foot prints but lost the trail on Kenduskeag while still in the trees (think the prints were off trail too), used Alltrails to get a direction and found the trail again, and it was okay to follow after that. |
