Comments: I will only address from 19MB trail head to Wildcat A since WanderingSoules’ report covers the rest. :-). (We were the two women in crampons!)

19MB was bare-bootable for about 2.5 miles. We used beater spikes from there until the WRT junction due to increasing ice and snow. We put full crampons on at the WRT junction and wore them all the way to D peak and we were glad we had them! There is a lot of ice, thick ice flows, and snow-coated ice on that 0.7 mile section from the junction of 19MB and WRT up to A peak - especially on the sketchy spots like the side-slopes and scrambles. Snowshoes were not necessary because any snow was packed and we never post-holed.

Yes, you could probably do it in sharp spikes but I prefer not to mess around or to have to think about or work too hard for traction.
