| Comments: |
Greeley Pond Trail is mostly free of snow and ice. A few intermittent patches, but easily bare-booted.
Transition to ice and snow happens quickly once on the Mount Osceola Trail at about 2500 feet elevation. I put trail crampons on at first, and soon transitioned to full crampons, which I kept on for the rest of the way to Osceola and back to roughly that same point.
The steep segments of the trail heading up to East Osceola are very icy and really crampons are the only good choice for traction. If the trail was any steeper it would be a technical ice climb. |
