Comments
Comments: We ascending the Ammonoosuc Ravine Trail at 1 a.m. in order to complete a Southern Presidential Traverse before major rainfall and decreased visibility. This beginning of the trail can be bare-booted. After the Gem Pool, the running water, amount of slush, and amount of blue ice on the trail increased significantly. Microspikes were used, but crampons are suggested if you have both. There were areas where all fours were needed to climb the ice. Overall, slow going.

Monroe to Eisenhower had minimal snow. There are areas with exposed rock for an extended period of time and then ice for more. Water on path, as well. Spikes went on and off.

Eisenhower to Pierce was smooth sailing. Snow is still packed nicely. Spikes were perfect.

Pierce to Jackson was very similar as listed directly above. The exposed rock climbing the summit of Jackson is all ice. Trees on the edge of trail were helpful to pull oneself up.

Webster-Jackson trail to 302 has a little of everything: blue ice, ice, running water, mud, etc. The rocks and roots exposed are slippery. Spikes recommended.
