Comments: Day 176, Peak 165. A nice post-work hike. 1st of the afternoon/evening :)

I didn’t see any posted land at the start of the road shown on Gaia that others said was inaccessible so I walked up it. A short ways in, it’s clearly posted so I turned around. That said, the road would seem to be in the Cardigan Mtn State Park. Can you have private property within a state park? I walked north along the road a couple hundred feet, then headed into the woods. I had to navigate through some wet footing but nothing too bad. Gorgeous forest around the beaver ponds though :D I headed S/SW at a moderately steep grade to the NW ridge of the peak in open hardwoods. Shortly after attaining the ridge I came out onto a road. Not posted and not the road that was posted down low that’s shown on Gaia so I decided to follow it. It got me very close to the peak before I saw blue blaze marking the state park boundary. Though there were no private property signs I played it safe and turned left here to stay in the state park. At this point that was the shortest line to the highpoint anyway. Only an easy few hundred feet from here.

Easy to find the register. Some peek-a-boo views toward Cardigan here. I walked south along the ridge for a couple hundred feet to explore but didn’t find a higher point or a better view. I returned roughly the same way. The hike was about 2mi with 350-400ft of gain, taking me just over an hour. 189 more days and 200 more peaks to go…
