Comments
Comments: Went up Airline. Bare boot to about 3200 feet then had to switch to microspikes, kept them on the rest of the way up to the summit. Sections of Airline around 3500 feet to about 4000 feet were ice flows. Spikes and using trees were ok but slow going. probably better to have crampons but either will work. I would be wary going down that section right now. Once above treeline is was mostly monorail and some packed snow. I carried snowshoes based on an RMC report a couple of days ago but no need for them as the snow is not deep. Pretty easy going because the temps were above 30 and no wind. Came back down Airline and took the cut over to the hut and then down Valley Way. Kept the spikes on until about 3000 feet and then after it is mud and dry sections of trail.
