Comments
Comments: Beautiful day on the Tripyramids! Bare booted out to just above the Wilderness sign with just a few muddy sections, then switched to spikes until I returned to the same spot. The trail was mostly frozen slush/snow over a blue ice base, and spikes got good purchase on the way up (with the exception of some icy chutes where butt-sliding had smoothed out the trail). I tried to poke my head out to the North slide for the view, but the trail did not seem broken out and there's a big blowdown making it hard to even tell where the trail is. By the time I headed down, conditions had turned to a warm slushy mess that sent me sliding a few times. Folks might consider crampons, although I didn't think it would help in the slush. All crossings were easy to rock hop; I went 10-15 feet downstream on a couple.
