Comments
Comments: True spring hiking conditions today! Started out bare-booting. Trail began dry with some icy patches which were avoidable. Then mud, and then bad mud, then the ice became more constant so at about a mile we put on our Hillsounds and kept them on until we were about 1/2 mile from the end. Saw lots of people in sneakers...yes I did write sneakers! Good luck! Not this gal. As we climbed the ice and snow completely covered the trail. Summit of Jackson was mostly rock and views of the presidentials were incredible. Over to Webster we hiked. Snow was deeper and more mushy/spring snow conditions pretty much to the summit of Webster. Some postholes along the way but we weren't postholing as it was solid enough to hold for the most part. More slushy than anything. Coming down from Webster the trail was pretty well covered in snow-spring snow. Coming down was a breeze to the waterfall....wow it was so beautiful today!. Back on Webster Jackson trail as it was later and much more traffic, the mud was worse and the ice was breaking up more. Great hike but wouldn't have been comfortable without our Hillsounds.
