Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Other than some rutting, the road is on fine shape. Not muddy at all. No issue parking today. I’d wager a guess that a good chunk of the reason for that is because the Lodge doesn’t officially re-open until next weekend. Also, there’s an EV charger at the Lodge. Not sure when that was put in, but today was the first time I noticed it.

Comments
Comments: Early reports of the demise of Shem Valley Road are greatly exaggerated.

Whole mixed bag of trail conditions today!

Bare/wet trail for the majority of Manning, up until the steep climb before the ledges. Spikes on there to shoot up the snow/ice. Ledges were primarily ice/snow free, but you were definitely playing a game of “is this water or is this ice?” on the wet rock.

Coming down West Side from the summit was no issue, as rocks were dry. Spikes for Skyland as there was enough snow/ice to warrant them. Spikes off for South Ridge, then back on for Hurricane Gap. Hurricane Gap was solid snow/ice for the whole way until the Clark junction. Spikes finally came off for good at that point.

Clouds put on a show today!
