| Comments: |
The trail was pretty muddy in spots before the wilderness sign. A little after the wilderness sign I threw on my spikes as there was snow from there on out. I wore them for the rest of the hike (until I came back down to the wilderness sign). In the morning the snow/ice was firm but a bit crunchy at times. The monorail got pretty narrow in some of the switchback spots and some care needed there. Spikes were all that was needed traction-wise. The trail was starting to look pretty chewed up on the ridge with the melt and traffic. I doubt snowshoes would really made it that much better as it’s quickly melting. On my way down the snow started to become very soft and slippery in sunny spots. Scaur trail only had one set of footprints going down it and it looked like no one had traveled Sabbaday Falls Trail since the last snow. All in all, a nice day for these two! |
