 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
The parking is exactly as desceibed in the Southern NH Trail Guide. There was one deep pothole filled with mud but I was driving slowly anyway so it was fine. Mine was the first car there this morning and there was one other car (belonging to a dog and two humans!) when we left. |

 | Water Crossing Notes: |
Bridges. Wooden bridges! Yippee!! |
|
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
No blowdowns that appeared new, based on the lightly beaten path around the few that I saw. |

 | Dog-Related Notes: |
My dog had a great time; as Liam noted in his post regarding this route, it’s a great route for pups! |
|
 | Bugs: |
Yup. 2 deer ticks (the tiny black ones) took a ride on my dog. And so it begins. :( |

Nothing. |

I hiked the Bald Knob and Mt Crosby loop counterclockwise (as described in the Southern NH Trail Guide), but instead of taking the High Pasture Loop back, took the other leg of the High Pasture Loop over to the Little Pond and Ledges trails and then finished out Romley Remick road to return to the car. That leaves us the middle section of High Pasture, that little 0.3 mile connector between Crosby and Bald Knob, and Eliza Remick. We’ll go back another time for that loop!
Minimal mud today - I could rock hop and my dog charges right through the middle because she knows that you’re not allowed to go around it because that widens the trail. ;)
There are a few actual water crossings with wooden bridges (love that!) and almost a dozen tiny little brooks and robust drainages. All of those were easy rock hops for me (and splashing opportunities for my dog!).
The trails are mostly easy to follow; the only place that we had a little trouble was between Bald Knob and Crosby. Those faded wolf trail signs were really neat!!
Lots of really fresh moose sign and tracks near the pond but no actual moose!
All of this was terrific but honestly the Ledges Loop was my favorite!! |
