Comments
Comments: Old Mast Road was dry and in great shape. The Square Ledge Trail had a stretch of hard snow on the slope just north of the four-way intersection of Old Mast/Walden/Lawrence/Square Ledge. We wore spikes for a short time there on the way in but bare booted thereafter. With the melting today, spikes won't be needed anywhere on this route. The steeps and scrambles up to the outlook and summit were sometimes wet/icy and required care, particularly on the descent.
Lovely hike with Chris and Renee on a bluebird day. We saw no one all day.
