Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Everything is doable - bypassed the lower two crossings on Sabbaday, though had to crawl under some downed trees to do that. The third from the bottom crossing can be done with dry feet if you use the log that reaches out to the middle. At least two of the upper three crossings on Sabbaday involve wet feet (but not over the boot top).

Comments
Comments: I'm posting this mainly to give conditions on Sabbaday, since it has seen less use over the winter. I'll describe it descending. The upper steep part of the trail was soft and slidey, with sections of ice flows (none of which were really long); I used crampons on this section both to deal with the ice flows and to bite into the soft surface snow. Nothing too difficult or treacherous but caution was required. Below this (after the trail has crossed the sideslope and has swung back to the right, now descending on the left-hand side of the brook), there is a significant stretch of unstable monorail - particularly unstable in that it was never as fully developed as a hard packed base due to less use over the winter, so you get to not only slide off the side but also down in the middle quite often. Snow was no more than a foot deep on the sides at any of these points. Somewhere above the brook crossings the monorail mostly peters out and you have a mix of dry/wet trail from there down.
