 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Parking is limited to about 6-8 spots. Lot must have filled during day since at least on car was on the road. We heard that cars on the road could be ticketed, but I didn't see any today. |

 | Dog-Related Notes: |
Cooper and Piper had a great time. Piper especially loved the water hole/pond along the trail for cooling off. Several other friendly pups out to meet and greet. One hiker said her pup could not get up some of the very icy sections of the trail near the summit, but all no others seemed to have a problem. |

Great hike, and spectacular views were had by all today. Trail started dry, with just a few patches of water/mud. Around the transition to rocky ledges, the amount of water flowing on the trail over the rocks increased. This was followed by a short section of ice patches / dry trail / running water before abruptly turning to a solid ice monorail. At around 2700 ft. we put on spikes. By this point the trail was all ice / ice flows, no real snow; spikes were essential to get up the trail; crampons probably would have been overkill. In a couple of locations a bypass was helpful in avoiding the ice. Within 100 yds of the fire towner summit, the rocky summit was completely free of ice and snow. |
