Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trail in good condition. Saw many trees that were recently cut. I cut limbs on two leaners whose branches intruded on the trail. Cut one small spruce leaner. The blazing could be improved on the lower slopes of Mt Langdon near a drainage channel.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Fine for dogs. May be dry in the summer.
Bugs
Bugs: A few insects flying around including some butterflies. Nothing that is a nuisance.

Comments
Comments: Most of the 4.6 miles from the trailhead to Mt Langdon is bare ground often with leaf or needle cover that is potentially slippery on the steeper grades. There were infrequent patches of snow from Mt Pickering to the base of the Mt Stanton cone. Nearing the top of Mt Langdon there is a stretch of more consistent snow (about 2,100 to 2,200 feet). Even at the top of Mt Langdon there were spots of bare ground. It won't be long before it will be snow-free trail the entire distance. I bare booted for the entire ascent with shallow postholes in the snow zone (deepest hole about a foot). I'm hoping the footprints will accelerate the melting process. No monorail was evident. I used microspikes on the descent in the snow zone.
Almost stepped on a garter snake. Heard the peepers in the wet area in the col between Mt Stanton and Mt Pickering. No wildflowers yet.
Great views to both the north and south as the path weaves its way across the ridge. The north view is of the Rocky Branch Valley, Iron Mtn, Mt Washington, Mt Madison's Osgood Ridge, and Carter Notch. The south view was of Attitash ski area and Mt Carrigain.
Met one hiker from Gorham NH, one jogger, and a local dog walker.
