Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Beechwood Drive is now posted at its base so you can’t drive up it :( I saw a road on Gaia to the east of the peak roughly opposite where 115 meets Rt 3 but this was owned by Pike Industries and was not accessible. I also saw a road coming in from the north which I tried to access from a couple miles north along Rt 3 (from its jct with 115) but this was also signed. I wound up parking to the south of the peak at the end of Moose Ln off of Blueberry Hill Rd which is off of 302. There’s a couple no trespassing signs around houses on Blueberry Hill Rd but nothing here. I parked just before a gate to a house presumably at the end of Moose Ln.

Comments
Comments: Day 166, Peak 153. This peak has become much more of a pain in the tuchus since Beechwood Drive is now signed as private. See my parking notes above about other places I tried to park that didn’t work. If this hadn’t planned out, the next options would’ve been Beech Hill Rd to the SW(which, if parking isn’t an issue, may honestly be a safer bet; slightly longer but also with slightly less gain), Beaver Pond Rd to the west, or Spencer Rd to the NW.

From my parking spot at the end of Moose Ln, I immediately found a path from the road into the woods. I followed it, coming to a T-jct in just a few hundred feet or so, and taking a left at the T. The nice woods path soon turned into a road as it travelled NE and neared Beechwood Drive. My plan was to bushwhack to where Beechwood Dr, on Gaia, seems to end and turn to a logging road as I figured that there wouldn’t be houses here and it wouldn’t be posted. The path and road is found actually led me to this spot! Yay! But, unfortunately, there were still houses around here. I stuck to the roads in the woods as long as I could, then popped out onto the road where a pond is shown on Gaia. There’s also a small sign where I popped out of the woods that says Emilia’s Brook. No posted land but driveways were posted so I more or less just crossed the road and hit the woods and started bushwhacking. The woods were young hardwoods but not nasty. I found lots of Skidder roads, and even some better roads as I headed NW toward the peak, first at gentle grades, then more steeply.

The summit area is a bit flat but not hard to find the highpoint and jar. I signed in and returned roughly the same way. This has been my first hike where I’ve seen NO snow other than some small leftover snowbanks around my car. I was surprised that there were no traces of snow anywhere! Yay for south facing slopes I guess. Some running water down the old skidder roads. I returned roughly the same way. The hike was about 3.25mi with 850ft of gain, taking me just under 2hrs.

199 more days and 212 more peaks to go…
