| Comments: |
A gray drizzly day for these peaks. Barebooted until the first steep climb on Avalon then Hillsound Trail Crampons until returning to 2nd water crossings. Lots of softening blue ice on the Avalon trail with slush and mashed potatoes throughout covering a surprisingly still solid base.Although todays route is opposite of most i highly recommend it as it would be tricky descending from Avalon down. i met no others out today and the highlight was feeding a Grey Jay that stopped to see what i had for a snack. Once on Mt Tom i encountered freezing rain which transitioned to pea sized hail.Blue skies back at the trailhead. |
