 | Comments: |
A great 6.75 mile, 1,795ft elevation gain, counterclockwise loop hike tagging Major, North and South Straightback. FYI- yes, Jesus Valley Road trailhead has been closed to hikers by private landowner...however, the short little section of snowmobile trail between Old Stage Road and Jesus Valley-Beaver Pond Trail is also closed by this same landowner. I Did not know or expect this. Solution- I retraced my steps a bit (heading west on Old Stage Road) to stone wall before the land is "Posted" and bushwhacked north along the stone wall for a ways, and then cut east over to Jesus Valley-Beaver Pond Trail. This worked out fine and I was able to continue along my planned route. There are some small patches of ice/snow, but nothing to warrant spikes at all. They came along for the ride with me. Otherwise, trails were in great shape and this was a very fun and scenic hike. |
