Wildy varying weather conditions - Within minutes the weather would change from freezing rain to sunny and 50 and then to snow which it did pretty much all day. The trail had a few areas of mud but nothing overwhelmingly muddy. About 3/4 of the way up the trail changes suddenly from relatively dry and snow-free to solid ice until the summit. We saw a number of people turning back due to not having spikes. The summit views were incredible today with mixed clouds and sun as well as visible snow squalls in the surrounding area. |
